About The Position

Performs custodial and labor duties at the Curtis D. Menard Sports Center, supporting facility operations under the guidance of the Facility Operator or Facility Supervisor. The role includes preparing spaces for events and activities, general cleaning and maintenance, assisting visitors, processing admissions, and supporting staff with other tasks as needed. Applicants must be at least 16 years old. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Knowledge of safe operation and maintenance of tools and equipment such as floor scrubbers, spray carts, and chemical dispensers.
Knowledge of the purpose, use, and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Knowledge of computer software relevant to the position.
Knowledge of administrative policies and procedures of the City and the operating requirements, policies, procedures, and practices of the City and Department, as well as applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
Organizational and time-management skills to prioritize a high volume of work while adapting to changing priorities.
Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure.
Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
Ability to perform detailed work accurately and independently, meeting stringent time limits with minimal direction and supervision.
Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to interpret and implement local policies and procedures, written instructions, general correspondence, and applicable regulations.
Ability to work allocated hours and respond after hours if needed.

Responsibilities

Perform custodial tasks, including floor maintenance, trash removal, window cleaning, and restroom sanitation.
Remove or maintain snow and ice from sidewalks and building entrances using shovels, sand, or salt.
Assist with landscaping, including raking leaves, weeding, and collecting trash around the facility.
Assist with skate rentals by checking out and returning skates, sanitizing them, and performing basic maintenance.
Set up and take down facility areas for events and activities, including tables, chairs, staging, and rented equipment.
Support Facility Operators with ice resurfacing tasks, including tipping and setting nets, filling the Zamboni with water, clearing snow or water, clearing rink users, and securing rink doors.
Guide visitors and patrons around the Menard Sports Center.
Process admission payments using the Point-of-Sale system and perform receptionist tasks such as answering phones and processing credit card transactions.
Interact professionally and courteously with patrons and colleagues.
Ensure compliance with facility and City of Wasilla rules and regulations and communicate rules to the public when necessary.
Perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.
Maintain accurate records of assigned activities and operations.
Work allocated hours and respond after hours if needed.
