About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join its Specimen Processing and Accessioning team in Salt Lake, Utah. The Specimen Processor prepares, identifies, routes, stores, and ships laboratory specimens for analysis and testing; enters patient information; and resolves and documents problem specimens. The role works Monday through Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. The minimum education requirement is a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Comfort handling biological specimens.
• Ability to accurately identify specimens.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Strong data-entry and organizational skills.
• High attention to detail.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Nice To Haves

• One or more years of experience in a laboratory or specimen processing.
• One or more years of experience in a medical or clinical laboratory.
• One or more years of experience in the healthcare industry, such as a physician's office, clinic, or hospital.
• One year of experience in an assembly or manufacturing production environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
• Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas.
• Accurately identify and label specimens.
• Pack and ship specimens to the proper testing facilities.
• Meet department activity and production goals.
• Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples.
• Enter patient information accurately and in a timely manner.
• Resolve and document problem specimens.
