About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Processor I to join its team in Holyoke, Massachusetts. The role supports the Specimen Processing and Accessioning team by preparing, sorting, accessioning, and routing clinical specimens and entering patient information in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment according to established standard operating procedures. The position helps ensure the accuracy of laboratory testing and contributes to Labcorp’s work improving health and patient outcomes.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Comfort handling biological specimens.
Ability to accurately identify specimens.
Experience working in a team environment.
Strong data-entry and organizational skills.
High level of attention to detail.
Proficiency in MS Office.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Nice To Haves

One or more years of relevant experience in a laboratory/accessioning, production/manufacturing, or warehouse environment.
One or more years of medical or production experience.
Current or previous Labcorp experience.

Responsibilities

Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas.
Accurately identify and label specimens.
Pack and ship specimens to the appropriate testing facilities.
Meet department activity and production goals.
Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples.
Enter patient information accurately and promptly.
Resolve and document problem specimens.
Perform clinical specimen accessioning and sample sorting according to established standard operating procedures.
