About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a dedicated and motivated Specimen Processor I to join its Specimen Processing and Accessioning team in New Hartford, New York. The role involves clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting, and data entry in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment, following established standard operating procedures. The Specimen Processor prepares specimens for laboratory analysis, resolves specimen and customer issues, and helps ensure accurate and timely processing.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
At least 1 year of experience in a laboratory, accessioning, data entry, manufacturing, or warehouse setting.
Comfort handling biological specimens.
Ability to accurately identify specimens.
Experience working in a team environment.
Strong data-entry and organizational skills.
High attention to detail.
Experience with MS Office.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Nice To Haves

At least 1 year of medical or patient-facing healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
Communicate effectively with client office staff.
Research, troubleshoot, and resolve customer and specimen problems.
Meet department activity and production goals.
Enter patient information accurately and in a timely manner.
Accurately identify and label specimens.
Pack and ship specimens to the appropriate testing facilities.
Review requisitions to ensure samples are prepared and update missing items.
Perform spinning, freezing, splitting, and other special services as needed based on client requirements.
