About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Processor I to join its team in Richmond, Virginia. The role involves clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting, and data entry in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment, following established standard operating procedures. The position prepares laboratory specimens for testing and helps ensure specimens and patient information are accurately identified, handled, routed, and documented. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., with overtime as business needs demand and rotating weekends required. The pay range is $17.75 to $26.00 per hour, plus a shift differential. Job offers are based on skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees or certifications, internal equity, and market data.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Comfortable handling biological specimens.
Ability to accurately identify specimens.
Experience working in a team environment.
Strong data-entry and organizational skills.
High level of attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Nice To Haves

One year or more of experience in a laboratory, accessioning, production, manufacturing, or warehouse environment.
One year of medical or production experience.

Responsibilities

Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
Unpack specimens and route them to their respective staging areas.
Accurately identify and label specimens.
Pack and ship specimens to the proper testing facilities.
Meet department activity and production goals.
Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples.
Enter patient information accurately and in a timely manner.
Resolve and document problem specimens.
Perform clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting, and data entry according to established standard operating procedures.
