About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Processor I to join its team in Hillside, Illinois. The role supports laboratory testing by preparing, sorting, routing, identifying, labeling, storing, and shipping specimens, as well as entering patient information and addressing problem specimens. The work is performed according to established procedures in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The pay range is $17.75–$22.00 per hour. Offers depend on the candidate’s skills, relevant experience, applicable degrees or certifications, internal equity, and market data.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Comfort handling biological specimens.
Ability to accurately identify specimens.
Strong data-entry and organizational skills.
High level of attention to detail.
Proficiency in MS Office.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.
Ability to work in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

One or more years of experience in a laboratory, accessioning, production, manufacturing, or warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
Unpack specimens and route them to their respective staging areas.
Accurately identify and label specimens.
Pack and ship specimens to the proper testing facilities.
Meet department activity and production goals.
Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples.
Enter patient information accurately and in a timely manner.
Resolve and document problem specimens.
Perform clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting, and data entry according to established standard operating procedures.
