About The Position
Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center is hiring an experienced Specimen Processing Specialist for a full-time, day-shift role in the Clinical Lab. The position operates and maintains laboratory equipment and responds to internal and external customer inquiries, resolving problems. It involves frequent interaction with hospitals, nursing facilities, and physician office staff. Work includes processing inpatient, outpatient, and client specimens and may include coordinating mobile phlebotomy service. The specialist assists the Manager/Team Coordinator with daily operations, work coordination, customer satisfaction, new employee training, and regulatory requirements. The role prioritizes workload and resolves problems independently of the Manager/Team Coordinator.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of laboratory experience.

Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Respond to internal and external customer inquiries and resolve problems.
- Interact with hospitals, nursing facilities, and physician office staff.
- Process inpatient, outpatient, and client specimens.
- Coordinate mobile phlebotomy service when applicable.
- Assist the Manager/Team Coordinator with daily operations and coordination of work.
- Support customer satisfaction, new employee training, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Prioritize workload and resolve problems without the Manager/Team Coordinator.
