About The Position

The Specimen Accessioner performs clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting, and data entry in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment, following established standard operating procedures. The role prepares laboratory specimens for analysis and testing, identifies, labels, routes, packs, and ships specimens, and prepares and stores excess samples. It also involves entering patient information and resolving and documenting problem specimens. The position is based in Columbus, Georgia. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 5:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with rotating Saturdays and holidays.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
At least 2 years of experience in a laboratory, accessioning, production, manufacturing, or warehouse setting.
Comfort handling biological specimens.
Ability to accurately identify specimens.
Experience working in a team environment.
Strong data-entry and organizational skills.
High level of attention to detail.
Experience with MS Office.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Nice To Haves

At least 5 years of experience in a laboratory, accessioning, production, manufacturing, or warehouse setting.

Responsibilities

Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
