About The Position

Averhealth is hiring a full-time Specimen Accessioner I for its laboratory in Hazelwood, Missouri. The position works 40 or more hours per week on a mid-day schedule, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with overtime opportunities and eligibility. The role supports laboratory analysis by preparing and processing urine specimens in accordance with standard operating procedures. It offers an opportunity to gain skills relevant to medical, addiction services, law enforcement, or emergency services work.

Requirements

High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Outstanding attention to detail.
Ability to perform routine tasks accurately and without errors.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.
Ability to manage time effectively.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Ability to pass a color-blind test; accommodations are made if needed.
Computer skills, particularly with Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to meet the stated physical and sensory requirements, including lifting at least 10 pounds, sitting or standing for extended periods, and using a computer and general office equipment extensively.
Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and directions.

Responsibilities

Receive, open, and pipette urine specimens in accordance with standard operating procedures to prepare them for analysis.
Prepare excess specimen samples for storage.
Enter sample information into the software database.
Dispose of samples after analysis is complete.
Send supplies to Averhealth sites as needed.
Maintain cleanliness of accessioning work areas.
