About The Position

Amgen is hiring a Specialty Representative or Senior Specialty Representative to serve as a primary customer contact and promote Amgen products according to marketing strategy set by the District Manager. The role connects with medical professionals by providing clinical product knowledge and helping customers navigate the payer environment. The territory covers Bowling Green, Sandusky, and Perrysburg, Ohio. Relocation is not offered. The representative drives appropriate product utilization and territory sales through customer engagement, planned programs, and medical education. They manage customer accounts, help address product access and reimbursement issues, contribute feedback and territory analysis, and collaborate with colleagues. The role level and title will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Requirements

Specialty Representative: Bachelor’s degree; or associate degree and 4 years of sales experience; or high school diploma/GED and 6 years of sales experience.
Senior Specialty Representative: Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of sales experience and/or non-sales clinical experience in a healthcare or scientific field; or associate degree and 6 years of such experience; or high school diploma/GED and 8 years of such experience.

Nice To Haves

Sales, marketing, or clinical experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, diagnostics, healthcare insurance, pharmacy services, healthcare medical device, or medical supply industries.
For Specialty Representative: some experience, pre-graduate sales training, or a proven track record of successful leadership under pressure.
For Senior Specialty Representative: 3 or more years of experience.
Product or hospital sales experience in oncology, cardiology, inflammation, nephrology, dermatology, rheumatology, neurology, endocrinology, hepatology, gastroenterology, bone health, respiratory, hematology, or infectious diseases, including related diseases and treatments.
Advanced influencing and relationship-building skills focused on sales outcomes.
Local market knowledge.
Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or Business Administration.
Adaptability in sales planning and organizing, leveraging business, industry, and technical knowledge, communicating with impact, driving for results, and cultivating internal and external relationships.

Responsibilities

Provide current, comprehensive knowledge of Amgen products and communicate their clinical benefits to medical professionals to support appropriate utilization.
Drive territory sales by delivering branded sales messages, conducting planned programs, scheduling and following up on medical educational programs, and meeting or exceeding sales targets through in-person and virtual engagement.
Develop relationships and manage accounts by tailoring discussions to customer needs, ensuring product access, resolving or triaging reimbursement issues, and maintaining product contracts.
Provide feedback on marketing strategy, analyze sales activity effectiveness and territory performance, and develop territory plans with the District Manager.
Partner with colleagues to share best practices and continue learning and developing in the role.
Maintain enthusiasm for Amgen products throughout the sales cycle while building the brand and keeping patient service in focus.
