About The Position

Amgen is seeking a Specialty Representative or Senior Specialty Representative to serve as a primary customer contact and implement marketing strategy while promoting Amgen products as directed by the District Manager. The role connects with medical professionals by providing clinical product knowledge and helping them navigate the payer environment. The territory covers Jamaica, Ozone Park, Cambria Heights, and Howard Beach, New York. Relocation is not offered. The role level and title will be selected based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience for the geography. The representative communicates product benefits, builds and manages customer and account relationships, supports product access, and works toward territory sales goals through in-person and virtual engagement. The position also involves evaluating sales effectiveness, contributing market feedback and territory plans, collaborating with colleagues, and upholding Amgen’s values and focus on serving patients.

Requirements

For Specialty Representative: Bachelor’s degree; or associate degree and 4 years of sales experience; or high school diploma/GED and 6 years of sales experience.
For Senior Specialty Representative: Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of sales experience and/or non-sales clinical experience in a healthcare or scientific field; or associate degree and 6 years of such experience; or high school diploma/GED and 8 years of such experience.

Nice To Haves

Sales, marketing, or clinical experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, diagnostics, healthcare insurance, pharmacy services, healthcare medical device, or medical supply industries.
For Specialty Representative: Some experience, pre-graduate sales training, or a proven record of successful leadership under pressure.
For Senior Specialty Representative: 3 or more years of experience.
Product or hospital sales experience in oncology, cardiology, inflammation, nephrology, dermatology, rheumatology, neurology, endocrinology, hepatology, gastroenterology, bone health, respiratory, hematology, or infectious diseases, including related diseases and treatments.
Advanced influencing and relationship-building skills focused on sales outcomes.
Local market knowledge.
Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or Business Administration.
Adaptability in sales planning and organizing, leveraging business, industry, and technical knowledge, communicating with impact, driving results, and cultivating internal and external relationships.

Responsibilities

Provide current and comprehensive knowledge of Amgen products and communicate their clinical benefits to medical professionals to drive appropriate product utilization.
Achieve territory sales goals by delivering branded sales messages, conducting planned programs, scheduling and following up on medical educational programs, and meeting or exceeding sales targets through in-person and virtual engagement.
Develop relationships with customers and manage accounts, including tailoring discussions to customer needs, ensuring product access, resolving or triaging reimbursement issues, and maintaining product contracts.
Provide feedback on marketing strategy, analyze the effectiveness of sales activities and territory performance, and develop territory plans with the District Manager.
Partner with colleagues to share best practices and continue learning and developing in the role.
Maintain enthusiasm for Amgen products throughout the sales cycle, build the brand, and keep the focus on serving patients.
