About The Position
Amgen is seeking a Specialty Representative or Senior Specialty Representative for a Bone Health overlay territory covering Carbondale, Poplar Bluff, and Sikeston. Relocation is not offered. The representative serves as a primary customer contact, providing medical professionals with current clinical knowledge of Amgen products and helping customers navigate the payer environment. The role implements marketing strategy and promotes Amgen products as directed by the District Manager. The position level and title will be selected based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and fit for the geography.
Requirements
- Specialty Representative: Bachelor’s degree; or associate degree and 4 years of sales experience; or high school diploma/GED and 6 years of sales experience.
- Senior Specialty Representative: Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of sales and/or non-sales clinical experience in a healthcare or scientific field; or associate degree and 6 years of such experience; or high school diploma/GED and 8 years of such experience.
Nice To Haves
- Sales, marketing, or clinical experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, diagnostics, healthcare insurance, pharmacy services, healthcare medical device, or medical supply industries.
- For Specialty Representative: some experience, pre-graduate sales training, and/or a proven track record of successful leadership under pressure.
- For Senior Specialty Representative: 3 or more years of experience.
- Product or hospital sales experience in oncology, cardiology, inflammation, nephrology, dermatology, rheumatology, neurology, endocrinology, hepatology, gastroenterology, bone health, respiratory, hematology, or infectious diseases, including related diseases and treatments.
- Advanced influencing and relationship-building skills focused on sales outcomes.
- Local market knowledge.
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or Business Administration.
- Adaptability in sales planning and organizing, leveraging business, industry, and technical knowledge, communicating with impact, driving for results, and cultivating internal and external relationships.
Responsibilities
- Provide current and comprehensive knowledge of Amgen products and communicate their clinical benefits to medical professionals to support appropriate product utilization.
- Achieve territory sales goals by delivering branded sales messages, conducting planned programs, scheduling and following up on medical education programs, and meeting or exceeding sales targets through in-person and virtual engagement.
- Develop and manage customer accounts by tailoring discussions to customer needs, supporting product access, triaging or resolving reimbursement issues, and maintaining product contracts.
- Provide feedback on marketing strategy, analyze the effectiveness of sales activities and territory performance, and develop territory plans with the District Manager.
- Share best practices with colleagues and seek opportunities to learn and grow.
- Promote Amgen’s products and brand throughout the sales cycle while maintaining focus on serving patients.
