About The Position
Amgen is hiring a Specialty Representative or Senior Specialty Representative for a territory covering Bronx, Yonkers, Mount Vernon, and New Rochelle, New York. Relocation is not offered. The position serves as a primary customer contact, providing medical professionals with clinical knowledge of Amgen products and helping customers navigate the payer environment. The role implements marketing strategy and promotes Amgen products as directed by the District Manager through in-person and virtual engagement. The title and level will be selected based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience for the geography.
Requirements
- For Specialty Representative: Bachelor’s degree; or an associate degree and 4 years of sales experience; or a high school diploma/GED and 6 years of sales experience.
- For Senior Specialty Representative: Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of sales experience and/or non-sales clinical experience in a healthcare or scientific field; or an associate degree and 6 years of such experience; or a high school diploma/GED and 8 years of such experience.
- Advanced influencing and relationship-building skills focused on sales outcomes.
- Local market knowledge.
- Adaptability in sales planning and organizing, applying business, industry, and technical knowledge, communicating with impact, driving for results, and cultivating internal and external relationships.
Nice To Haves
- Sales, marketing, or clinical experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, diagnostics, healthcare insurance, pharmacy services, healthcare medical device, or medical supply industries.
- For Specialty Representative: Some experience, pre-graduate sales training, and/or a proven track record of successful leadership under pressure.
- For Senior Specialty Representative: 3 or more years of experience preferred.
- Product or hospital sales experience in oncology, cardiology, inflammation, nephrology, dermatology, rheumatology, neurology, endocrinology, hepatology, gastroenterology, bone health, respiratory, hematology, or infectious diseases, including associated diseases and treatments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or Business Administration.
Responsibilities
- Provide current and comprehensive knowledge of Amgen products and communicate clinical benefits to medical professionals to support appropriate product utilization.
- Lead territory sales by delivering branded sales messages, conducting planned programs, scheduling and following up on medical educational programs, and meeting or exceeding sales targets through in-person and virtual engagement.
- Develop and manage customer accounts by tailoring discussions to customer needs, ensuring product access, resolving or triaging reimbursement issues, and maintaining product contracts.
- Provide feedback on marketing strategy, analyze sales activity and territory effectiveness, and develop territory plans with the District Manager.
- Collaborate with colleagues, share best practices, and pursue continued learning and growth.
- Maintain enthusiasm for Amgen products and build the company’s brand throughout the sales cycle, with a focus on serving patients.
