About The Position

The Specialist, Talent Acquisition & Recognition plays a key role within the Human Resources team, leading the full-cycle recruitment process for both unionized and non-unionized positions. This role is responsible for delivering a seamless and positive candidate experience, from initial contact through onboarding, while partnering closely with internal stakeholders to meet organizational hiring needs.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of hands-on, high volume recruitment experience
  • University Degree in Human Resources Management (or another Degree with a post Graduate Human Resources certificate)
  • Strong behavioural interviewing skills
  • Knowledge of applicable employment legislation
  • Knowledge of collective agreements
  • Proven ability to manage several competing priorities
  • A self starter who is committed to excellent customer service
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and build effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders at all levels
  • Thrive in a fast paced and collaborative environment
  • Continuous improvement mindset

Nice To Haves

  • A CHRP/CHRL designation is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with multiple stakeholders to provide service excellence
  • Being first point of contact for candidates and creating a positive interviewing and onboarding experience
  • Identifying the selection criteria and competencies, conducting interviews (in-person & virtually) and reference checks, extending offers of employment and negotiating total compensation
  • Managing the online applicant tracking system, including troubleshooting and updating process documentation
  • Managing the corporate internship program including developing relationships with Universities and Colleges
  • Developing and implementing the City’s recruitment and attraction strategy
  • Assisting with coordinating employee recognition programs
