About The Position

At DICK’S Sporting Goods, the Specialist – Sport & Outdoor serves as a trusted product expert and helps athletes find the right gear while delivering an engaging, athlete-first experience. The role drives sales, supports service execution, and brings energy and passion to interactions with athletes. It also serves as a subject-matter expert for designated store process categories and supports the onboarding and training of team members.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
1–3 years of experience.
Ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and repetitively lift items weighing 15–35 lbs., up to 25 times per hour.
Ability to stand or walk for extended periods, up to 4 hours.
Ability to work at heights greater than 4 feet using a ladder, aerial lifting device, or platform.
Ability to perform repetitive motions for short periods, up to 2 hours continuously.

Responsibilities

Proactively engage athletes to understand their shopping needs and deliver an outstanding, world-class athlete experience.
Provide clear, accurate, and knowledgeable information about products and assortment.
Anticipate athlete needs and drive sales through product and service recommendations grounded in a deep understanding of those needs.
Assist with onboarding and training new and existing team members, sharing best practices, selling skills, and operational processes.
Serve as a go-to expert in designated process categories to support smooth execution and high productivity.
Execute processes efficiently while maintaining an athlete-first mindset, ensuring products are ready for purchase and athletes are engaged when, where, and how they want.
Follow floor-set plans, signage requirements, price changes, inventory presentation, and replenishment standards to uphold merchandising and presentation standards.
Promote customer participation in company programs, including the customer loyalty program, warranty sales, and private-label credit card enrollment.
Help create a store environment where teammates and athletes are welcome and treated with respect.
Follow safety, loss-prevention, and standard operating procedures, as well as applicable laws and external governing guidelines.
