About The Position

At DICK’S Sporting Goods, the Specialist – Sport & Outdoor serves as a trusted product expert, helping athletes find suitable gear while delivering an engaging, athlete-first experience. The role drives sales, supports service execution, and brings energy and passion to interactions with athletes. It also contributes to a welcoming, inclusive store environment and supports the team through product and process expertise.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of experience.
• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and repeatedly lift items weighing 15 to 35 pounds, up to 25 times per hour.
• Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of up to 4 hours.
• Ability to work at heights greater than 4 feet using a ladder, aerial lifting device, or platform.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions for up to 2 hours continuously.

• Previous retail or customer-facing experience.

Responsibilities

• Proactively engage athletes to understand their shopping needs and provide an outstanding experience.
• Provide clear, accurate, knowledgeable information about products and assortment.
• Anticipate athlete needs and drive sales through product and service recommendations.
• Assist with onboarding and training new and existing team members in the designated area of the store.
• Share best practices, selling skills, and key operational processes as a subject matter expert.
• Serve as a go-to expert in designated process categories to support smooth execution and productivity.
• Execute processes efficiently while maintaining an athlete-first mindset and ensuring products are ready for purchase.
• Follow merchandising and presentation standards, including floor-set plans, signage, price changes, inventory presentation, and replenishment.
• Promote customer participation in company programs, including loyalty programs, warranty sales, and private-label credit card enrollment.
• Help create a store environment where teammates and athletes are welcome and treated with respect.
• Follow safety, loss prevention, standard operating procedures, and applicable laws and external guidelines.
