About The Position

This is a student employment position within the Office of Community Service, specifically for the Special Olympics CT Health and Wellness Department. The role is funded through Federal Work-Study and involves supporting various health and wellness initiatives for Special Olympics athletes, families, and caregivers. The position requires 6-8 hours per week, with availability between Monday and Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, and may require some nights and weekends.

Requirements

  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Be committed to the philosophy, needs and rewards of working with Special Olympics
  • Be enthusiastic and outgoing
  • Have excellent organizational, writing and communication skills
  • Be experienced using Excel, Word, Publisher and PowerPoint
  • Be able to work some nights and weekends if required

Responsibilities

  • Identify local health and wellness opportunities for athletes, families and caregivers
  • Create and manage weekly Wellness Wednesday posts for Facebook
  • Engage in the planning and implementation of Healthy Athletes screening(s) at Summer Games
  • Assist with Healthy Athletes data collection, entry, and analysis
  • Provide support to the Athlete Health Leader
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of the Athlete and Family Health Team
  • Provide support to the Health & Wellness Department
