About The Position

This is a student employment position with Special Olympics CT (SOCT) in the Office of Community Service. The role is a Federal Work-Study position focused on public relations and administrative tasks. The assistant will gain experience in writing, design, event support, and development duties while representing SOCT in the community.

Requirements

  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Be committed to the philosophy, needs and rewards of working with Special Olympics.
  • Be enthusiastic and outgoing.
  • Have excellent organizational, writing and communication skills.
  • Be experienced using Excel, Word, Publisher and PowerPoint.
  • Be able to work some nights and weekends if required.

Responsibilities

  • Write Press Releases and Media Alerts for SOCT events.
  • Write Articles about SOCT.
  • Create & design various Advertisements on MAC.
  • Assist in layout of SOCT’s newsletter (published monthly).
  • Attend events / meeting as requested.
  • Assist staff with Development duties.
  • Represent SOCT at community events.
  • Data entry and other administrative duties as needed.
  • Other responsibilities as they develop, based on intern interest areas and organization needs.
