About The Position

Intertek, a Nationally Recognized Testing Lab (NRTL) and leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking a Special Inspector to join our Professional Services Industries Inc. (Intertek-PSI) team. This role offers a career in the architectural, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry. Intertek's Building and Construction division provides assurance, testing, inspection, and consulting services for new developments, existing assets, and facilities. Professional Service Industries, Inc. Requirements

  • 5+ years of special inspection and/or construction materials testing experience is required.
  • Must have Basic Math, Calculator and Computer Skills.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal & written communication.
  • Must be able to read and understand work plans.
  • Must be able to work off shifts and overtime.
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable driving record (required).
  • Must be able to work off shift and overtime as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
  • ACI/ICC Certifications are highly desired.
  • ACI level I
  • ACI Concrete Construction Special Inspector
  • ICC Reinforcing Steel inspector
  • ICC Reinforced Concrete Masonry Inspector
  • ICC Soil Inspector
  • PTI Certified Post-Tension Inspector Level 1 & 2

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of testing, project-specific observations, and inspection duties under general supervision.
  • Operates testing equipment and conducts testing (e.g., Soil, concrete, or other) and provides an assessment of data through reporting.
  • Works utilizing drawings, specifications, and diagrams.
  • Uses specific methods to observe site activities and perform tasks.
  • Reads and Interprets Plans and Specifications.
  • Maintains and calibrates standard equipment.
  • Performs complex assignments.
  • Attends project meetings.
  • Makes detailed observations and gives the interpretation of results.
  • Maintains detailed documentation and data from test results.
  • Operates a calculator to calculate mathematical test results.
  • Communicates effectively with client and project teams.
  • Must be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work.
