About The Position

Pediatric Developmental Services (PDS) is hiring a Special Education Teacher to work in a school in Norristown, Pennsylvania. The role supports students in reaching their potential through individualized instruction and a safe, productive classroom environment. PDS provides public school districts, charter schools, and communities with qualified teachers and pediatric therapists, and offers support and a tailored mentorship program to its therapists.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Experience working with K–12 children.

Responsibilities

Create and execute an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for each student in the teacher’s care.
Communicate with staff and family members about each student’s progress and struggles.
Prepare detailed lesson plans and submit them to administrators for approval.
Participate in IEP meetings scheduled by the school.
Use individualized reinforcement techniques to support each student’s progress.
Invite family members to participate in each student’s educational progress.
Create and distribute quarterly progress reports.
Confer with the on-site therapist about student disciplinary and behavioral issues.
Create a safe, productive classroom environment.
