Special Education Substitute Teacher - Philadelphia, PA
About The Position
Kokua Education is hiring Special Education Substitute Teachers to work in K-12 schools across the Philadelphia area for the 2026-27 school year. Substitute teachers set their own schedules and may work up to five days per week in assignments they are interested in. Daily positions pay $196 per day, while long-term positions pay $216 per day, with weekly paychecks. Employees are paid via W-2. The role may provide a path to permanent positions at high-performing K-12 schools. Kokua offers support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Substitute teachers serve as positive role models and help students learn from their experiences.
Requirements
- Hold a Special Education Certification in the state of Pennsylvania.
- Have completed a bachelor's degree.
- Have at least 6 months of experience working with students in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
- Feel confident managing a classroom of students.
- Be willing to step in where needed, including supervision, tutoring, and testing proctoring.
- Pass state and federal background checks; costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
- Believe every child has a unique and powerful gift to share with the world.

- Experience working in a special education setting is preferred.
Responsibilities
