About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring Special Education Substitute Teachers for the 2026–27 school year at K–12 schools across the Philadelphia area. Substitute teachers create positive classroom experiences, serve as role models, and help students recognize their potential. Assignments may be daily or long-term, with pay of $196 per day for daily positions and $216 per day for long-term positions. Pay is issued weekly through W-2 employment. Teachers set their own schedule and may work up to five days per week, choosing from available teaching assignments. The role may also involve supporting schools with lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, or test proctoring. Kokua describes its mission as connecting professional educators with schools and providing support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Applications are being accepted for the 2026–27 school year, and the interview process can begin immediately.

Requirements

Hold a Special Education Certification in Pennsylvania.
Have completed a bachelor's degree.
Have at least six months of experience working with students in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
Feel confident managing a classroom of students.
Be willing to complete state and federal background checks; costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
Believe every child has a unique and powerful gift to share with the world.
