Space Simulation and Analysis Engineering

RTX•El Segundo, CA
•$118,300 - $224,900•Onsite

About The Position

The Mission Engineering Directorate supports customer-focused mission modeling and simulation activities across Raytheon. Its teams develop and analyze integration solutions spanning sensors, effectors, command and control, logistics, and operations, as well as tools and methods for campaign-, mission-, and system-level analysis and visualization. The directorate emphasizes innovation, teamwork, and a flexible work environment. As a member of the Cross-Domain and Space Operations Solutions Section, you will work with engineers using simulation and analysis to evaluate current and future integrated space systems and capabilities, including orbital and ground systems across RTX, Golden Dome architectures, and Space Based Intercept. This is an onsite role in El Segundo, California. An active and transferable U.S. government Top Secret security clearance is required before starting; U.S. citizenship is required for clearance eligibility.

Requirements

  • A STEM degree and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, unless prohibited by local laws or regulations.
  • Experience simulating and analyzing space vehicles and satellite constellations, including orbital dynamics, constellation design, and satellite communications, including link budget analysis.
  • Experience with multi-domain mission analysis, scenario modeling, and visualization for aerospace, defense, or other complex systems, such as AGI STK (Systems Tool Kit).
  • Experience with MATLAB or Python.
  • An active and transferable U.S. government-issued Top Secret security clearance before the start date.
  • U.S. citizenship, as required for eligibility for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical, analytical, and communication skills for collaborating with peers and presenting to senior technical staff and customers.
  • Experience with Solis, Astrogator, and/or ODTK.
  • An active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Experience with Raytheon-owned modeling and simulation tools such as OpsTool or RCADE, or government/industry tools such as Missile Tool Kit or AFSIM.
  • An advanced STEM degree.
  • Experience with Java, C++, or an equivalent programming language.
  • Experience conducting analyses and studies, including defining and executing a study and evaluating a new concept of operation.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate end-to-end system requirements through CONOPS and Design Reference Missions (DRMs) to understand space and missile system integration interfaces and data connectivity across military kill chains.
  • Model and simulate satellites, constellations, and system-of-systems architectures.
  • Support the design and integration of mission data processing algorithms to improve detection, tracking, data correlation, and data fusion.
  • Develop and implement model-based solutions for mission trade studies and performance simulations.
  • Apply performance engineering practices and procedures to evaluate work across computational problems and multiple domains.
  • Analyze data to understand performance requirements for integrating space and missile systems.
  • Develop analytical metrics to validate proposed architectures against missile and space systems requirements and help shape future technology growth.
  • Develop and implement algorithms to provide next-generation performance across systems of systems, including integrated space and missile systems.
