Sr Space Simulation Analysis Engineering Systems Engineer

RTX•El Segundo, CA
•$95,500 - $181,700•Onsite

About The Position

The Cross-Domain and Space Operations Solutions Section is seeking an engineer to support simulation and analysis of current and future integrated space systems and capabilities, including orbital and ground systems, across RTX. The work includes Golden Dome Architectures and Space Based Intercept. The role supports customer-focused mission modeling and simulation, developing and analyzing flexible integration solutions across sensors, effectors, command and control, logistics, and operations. The engineer will evaluate end-to-end system requirements through CONOPS and Design Reference Missions, model satellites, constellations, and system-of-systems architectures, and develop analytical methods and algorithms for mission studies and performance simulations. This is an onsite position in El Segundo, California. An active, transferable U.S. government Top Secret security clearance is required before the start date, and U.S. citizenship is required.

Requirements

  • A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM), and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, unless prohibited by local laws or regulations.
  • Experience simulating and analyzing space vehicles and satellite constellations, including orbital dynamics, constellation design, and satellite communications with link budget analysis.
  • Experience with the ANSYS STK tool-suite and either MATLAB or Python.
  • Experience conducting analyses and studies, including defining and executing a study and evaluating a new concept of operation.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government-issued Top Secret security clearance before the start date.
  • U.S. citizenship, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical, analytical, and communication skills for collaboration with peers and presentation to senior technical staff and customers.
  • Experience with Solis, Astrogator, and/or ODTK.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Experience with Raytheon-owned modeling and simulation tools such as OpsTool or RCADE, or government/industry tools such as Missile Tool Kit or AFSIM.
  • Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
  • Experience with Java, C++, or an equivalent programming language.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate end-to-end system requirements through CONOPS and Design Reference Missions to understand space and missile system integration interfaces and data connectivity across military kill-chains.
  • Provide modeling and simulation of satellites, constellations, and system-of-systems architectures.
  • Support design and integration of mission data processing algorithms to improve detection, tracking, data correlation, and data fusion.
  • Develop and implement model-based solutions to support mission trade studies and performance simulations.
  • Apply performance engineering practices and procedures to evaluate work across computational problems and multiple domains.
  • Analyze data to understand performance requirements for integration of space and missile systems.
  • Develop analytical metrics to validate proposed architectures against missile and space systems requirements and help shape future technology growth.
  • Develop and implement algorithms to provide next-generation performance across systems of systems, including integration of space and missile systems.
