About The Position

The Integrated Solutions, Modeling, and Architecture (ISMA) Directorate supports customer-focused mission modeling and simulation activities across Raytheon. Its teams develop, analyze, and create flexible integration solutions spanning sensors, effectors, command and control, logistics, and operations, and develop tools and methods to evaluate campaign-, mission-, and system-level analysis and visualizations. The department emphasizes innovation, teamwork, individuality, and a flexible work environment. As a member of the Cross-Domain and Space Operations Solutions Section, the engineer will work with a team focused on simulation and analysis of current and future integrated space systems and capabilities, both orbital and ground-based, across RTX. Areas include Golden Dome Architectures and Space Based Intercept. The role is based onsite in El Segundo, California. The position evaluates system requirements through CONOPS and Design Reference Missions, models satellites and system-of-systems architectures, and supports mission data processing algorithms. It develops model-based solutions, performance metrics, and algorithms to support mission trade studies, performance simulations, and integration of space and missile systems.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a STEM degree and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience, unless prohibited by local laws or regulations.
  • Experience simulating and analyzing space vehicles and satellite constellations, including orbital dynamics, satellite constellation design, and satellite communications, including link budget analysis.
  • Experience with the ANSYS STK tool suite and either MATLAB or Python.
  • Experience conducting analyses and studies, including defining and executing a study and evaluating a new concept of operation.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government-issued Top Secret security clearance required prior to the start date; U.S. citizenship is required because only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated technical, analytical, and communication skills for collaborating with peers and presenting to senior technical staff and customers.
  • Experience with Solis, Astrogator, and/or ODTK.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Experience with Raytheon-owned modeling and simulation tools such as OpsTool or RCADE, or government/industry modeling and simulation tools such as Missile Tool Kit or AFSIM.
  • Advanced degree in a STEM field.
  • Experience with Java, C++, or an equivalent programming language.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate end-to-end system requirements through CONOPS and Design Reference Missions to understand space and missile system integration interfaces and data connectivity across military kill-chains.
  • Provide modeling and simulation of satellites, constellations, and system-of-systems architectures.
  • Support the design and integration of mission data processing algorithms to improve detection, tracking, data correlation, and data fusion.
  • Develop and implement model-based solutions to support mission trade studies and performance simulations.
  • Apply performance engineering practices and procedures to evaluate work across computational problems and multiple domains.
  • Analyze data to understand performance requirements for integrating space and missile systems.
  • Develop analytical metrics to validate proposed architectures against missile and space systems requirements and help shape future technology growth.
  • Develop and implement algorithms to provide next-generation performance across system-of-systems, including integration of space and missile systems.
