Modeling & Simulation Analysis Intern
About The Position
Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Modeling & Simulation Analysis Intern to join its team in St. Louis, Missouri, during Summer 2027. The intern will work with customers, the Study Lead, and model developers to create and execute analysis plans, including computer model run matrices. The role also develops model inputs for AFSIM and other mission- and engagement-level models to represent the system or concept under test, the operating environment, and the concept of operations. The intern will support study planning and model development, help process model output into measures of merit and effectiveness, and contribute to interpreting results and presenting findings and conclusions to customers to support decision-making.
Requirements
- Be actively enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program in Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Have a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Have proficiency or familiarity with programming languages such as Python, C++, or C#.
- Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with version control systems such as Git.
- Knowledge of modeling and simulation methodologies, particularly experimental design, study-plan execution, and construction of scenario elements.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an interest in developing software tools for real-world applications.
- Familiarity with simulation or modeling software.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Study Lead in defining study questions and translating customer questions into analysis plans.
- Develop model input data to replicate systems or concepts being analyzed.
- Assist software developers who program and operate models to produce output.
- Post-process model output into measures of merit and effectiveness that support the analysis plan objectives.
- Assist in interpreting model results and developing presentations of findings and conclusions for customers.
