About The Position

As a Spa Lead at Sycuan, you will serve as a key liaison between the front and back of the house, ensuring exceptional spa experiences from guest arrival to the completion of their service. This role is ideal for someone passionate about enhancing guest experiences, developing high-performing teams, and maintaining a calm, organized environment within a fast-paced, luxury setting. The Spa Lead is responsible for upholding Sycuan's standards through effective communication, ensuring equipment safety, managing product inventory and storage, overseeing staff coverage, and adhering to all relevant Sycuan policies.

Requirements

  • California Massage Therapy Council Certificate in good standing, California Massage and Bodywork License in good standing, or California Esthetic License in good standing.
  • 5 years of massage therapy experience or 5 years of esthetics experience.
  • 5 years’ experience in customer service.
  • Working knowledge of various types of spa massage & facial treatments and procedures.
  • Ability to evaluate guest needs and make best treatment recommendations.
  • Ability to demonstrate respect, sensitivity, and concern for guest needs.
  • Ability to create a soothing and comfortable environment for guests.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to exert pressure through a variety of hand and arm movements.
  • Ability to use fingers, hands, and arms to manipulate muscles.
  • Ability to bend and stoop.
  • Ability to interact effectively with team members and guests.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and composure.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal directives.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree in Massage Therapy or Advanced Esthetic License.
  • Experience working in at minimum of two resort spa settings.
  • Experience with product inventory and product distribution and management.
  • Service training.
  • CPR Certified.
  • Book4Time software experience.
  • Multi-lingual.

Responsibilities

  • Creates a team of service providers to meet all aspects of professionalism and service demands.
  • Ensures all guests are welcomed and picked up for their service on time.
  • Provides assistance and/or instruction to new providers and/or new service protocols for massage, body treatments, and skincare services.
  • Schedules any required continued education, test outs, auditions, and random quality-controlled secret shoppers.
  • Maintains a fully staffed department by assisting in scheduling, posting rankings, and balancing the daily schedule.
  • Remains current on staff licensure and certifications.
  • Informs the team of promotions and specials.
  • Promptly notifies the Spa & Retail Manager of guest comments and/or complaints.
  • Treats all team members and guests in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Provides guidance to Spa Attendants by training and providing guidance to team members.
  • Instructs staff on departmental policies and procedures.
  • Monitors team member performance and reports out-of-compliance behaviors to the Spa and Salon Manager as needed.
  • Ensures spa inventory is stocked by completing and submitting supply requisitions, placing delivered items in cabinets, wiping and restocking shelves, counters, and cleaning stations according to established procedures.
  • Maintains department equipment, materials, and fixtures by ensuring all products and promotional materials are available and visible in the spa lounge and treatment rooms.
  • Cleans and removes debris from back-of-the-house counters, cupboards, and equipment.
  • Maintains an orderly storage area.
  • Transports materials and equipment to various spa rooms as needed.
  • Notifies the manager of any damaged, broken, or inoperable equipment and when materials or supplies are low and need to be reordered.
  • Places used linens in the appropriate area.
  • Performs other maintenance and cleaning tasks as assigned by the manager.
  • Provides administrative support to the department by documenting and forwarding monthly service reports, specific request reports, attendance, and retail sales to services provided.
  • Cleans and disinfects all equipment on a daily basis.
  • Coaches providers with positive reinforcement and counsel when there are performance deficiencies.
  • Makes recommendations for any needed efficiencies for better communication from the front of the house to the back of the house.
  • Maintains an understanding of spa software.
