About The Position

Zurich Canada is seeking a Bilingual Senior Auto Claims Specialist to manage and settle complex, high-severity commercial auto claims, while providing an exceptional customer experience and contributing to effective claims cost management. Reporting to the Principal Claims Adjuster - Property & Auto, you will be responsible for a portfolio of complex and/or litigated auto claims, from coverage analysis to settlement. You will offer technical support to colleagues, collaborate closely with underwriting and risk engineering, and contribute to the continuous improvement of claims management practices and customer service. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of claims or insurance experience OR Zurich Apprenticeship Program in Insurance (with a college diploma) and at least 3 years of claims or insurance experience OR Successful completion of Zurich's Claims Training Program and at least 2 years of claims or insurance experience OR High school diploma (or equivalent) and at least 5 years of claims or insurance experience
  • Hold (and maintain) required claims adjuster licenses
  • Knowledge of insurance regulations, markets, and products
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial auto claims management
  • AMF license in business property and casualty insurance
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Professional designations such as CIP/FCIP (or progress towards them) are considered a significant asset
  • Proficiency in French
  • Proficiency in both French and English, spoken and written, required to facilitate communication with internal and external stakeholders outside of Quebec

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of complex and/or high-severity commercial auto claims (including bodily injury, property damage, and potentially litigated files) from first notice of loss to final settlement.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of coverage, liability, and damages in accordance with Zurich's claims policies, guidelines, and service standards.
  • Manage claims reserving, ensuring adequate, accurate, and timely reserves are established and financial and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Conduct settlement negotiations and discussions with insureds, brokers, third-party claimants, and legal counsel to achieve fair and efficient outcomes.
  • Work closely with internal and external legal counsel, independent adjusters, and other vendors, providing necessary oversight and direction for quality and cost-effective claims management.
  • Provide technical support, coaching, and mentoring to less experienced claims adjusters, sharing best practices and contributing to team skill development.
  • Collaborate with underwriting, risk engineering, and other internal stakeholders to share learnings, support account reviews, and contribute to profitable portfolio management.
  • Identify trends, potential indicators of fraud, and opportunities for process improvement, and participate in claims initiatives and projects as needed.
  • Ensure all claims-related activities comply with applicable laws and regulations, as well as Zurich's internal policies and controls.
  • Deliver a high level of customer service, maintaining clear, timely, and empathetic communication with all stakeholders throughout the settlement process.
