About The Position

Cologix is seeking an HVAC Specialist to serve as a technical expert and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for HVAC systems within its hyperscale data center critical infrastructure. This role combines in-depth field expertise with strategic contribution to HVAC system performance, reliability, and overall site energy efficiency. The individual will support operations in a 24/7 high-availability environment. This is a new position expected to evolve gradually based on operational needs, infrastructure maturity, and organizational growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. An equivalent combination of training and significant experience in critical HVAC systems will also be considered.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in supporting and operating critical HVAC infrastructure, ideally in data centers, healthcare facilities, pharmaceutical, telecommunications facilities, or other critical environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to combine strategic analysis with field intervention.
  • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize tasks in a dynamic, high-availability environment.
  • Availability and willingness to travel between our 3 data centers, as operational needs require.
  • Autonomy, rigor, professionalism, and strong technical credibility.
  • Knowledge of English is required for this position, particularly as you will be required to communicate frequently with other employees as well as with Cologix clients and/or suppliers located outside of Quebec.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a technical reference within the team.
  • Intervene in the field when advanced diagnostics, incidents, and critical situations require it.
  • Ensure the performance and reliability of HVAC systems including CRAC, DX units, MUA, ventilation, humidification, etc.
  • Validate, optimize, and recommend adjustments to HVAC control sequences.
  • Analyze the energy performance of infrastructures.
  • Identify, recommend, and prioritize initiatives aimed at improving PUE.
  • Ensure HVAC systems meet the required service levels according to SLAs with our clients.
  • Support operational activities including planned maintenance, resilience testing, cutovers, and commissioning.
  • Participate in root cause analyses (RCA) and the implementation of corrective actions following incidents.
  • Contribute to the implementation of HVAC standards and industry best practices (ASHRAE, Uptime Institute, etc.).
  • Participate in infrastructure expansion, modernization, and evolution projects.
  • Maintain clear, structured, and up-to-date technical documentation.
  • Be available in case of emergency.
  • Perform all other related tasks.
