About The Position

Second Front Systems is seeking a technically credible, commercially astute, and operationally independent Solutions Engineer to strengthen its EMEA commercial organization. The role connects engineering, mission needs, and government customers, translating technical architecture decisions into deployable capabilities while accounting for accreditation and deployment timelines. The Solutions Engineer owns the technical sales path for EMEA opportunities from discovery through validation and close. This includes assessing customer environments; developing architectures that reflect cloud, network, identity, security, and sovereign-residency constraints; delivering demonstrations and evaluations; troubleshooting technical issues; and resolving blockers so opportunities can progress with clear assumptions and minimal delivery risk. The role partners with the commercial team, Head of EMEA, Platform Engineering, and customers, builds technical relationships with cloud providers, hyperscalers, primes, and systems integrators, supports partner enablement, and provides clean technical handoffs to implementation and delivery teams. This is a full-time remote position for someone based in an EU country where they have the right to work and residency. Travel across EMEA is expected. The base salary is €110,000–€130,000, with eligibility for equity awards and discretionary bonuses.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years in a technical customer-facing role such as solutions engineering, sales engineering, solutions architecture, or technical pre-sales.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, and strong cloud infrastructure knowledge.
  • Hands-on familiarity with containers, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, networking, IAM, and APIs.
  • Working ability with scripting or software development sufficient to troubleshoot integrations, applications, and cloud environments.
  • Ability to develop credible technical designs without making unsupported bespoke commitments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues across application and infrastructure layers during evaluations.
  • Strong written and verbal technical communication skills and ability to work effectively with engineers, security teams, architects, procurement stakeholders, and government customers.
  • Fluent English.
  • Existing work authorization and residency in the EU country of employment.
  • Willingness to travel across EMEA.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in defense, govtech, or another regulated industry, particularly with sovereign cloud, GovCloud, or classified/accredited environments.
  • Familiarity with government or allied accreditation and certification frameworks such as NATO, UK MOD, FedRAMP, GovRAMP, CRA, NIS-2, C5, or national equivalents.
  • Relevant AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud certifications.
  • Fluency in an additional European language relevant to a priority EMEA market.
  • Experience supporting partner or channel enablement with hyperscalers, primes, or systems integrators.

Responsibilities

  • Own technical discovery and qualification for EMEA opportunities, assessing application, infrastructure, security, integration, and deployment fit.
  • Develop proposed architectures covering cloud, networking, identity, integrations, data residency, sovereignty, and security, tailored to each customer environment.
  • Deliver demonstrations, run proofs of value, and facilitate approved non-production evaluations for software vendors, defense-tech companies, regulated enterprises, and government customers.
  • Identify technical blockers, dependencies, product gaps, and delivery assumptions before commitments are made, coordinating with Platform Engineering on feasibility and effort.
  • Support technical RFI/RFP, security, partner, and architecture responses, and represent Second Front at customer workshops and technical events.
  • Build reusable demos, reference architectures, and discovery materials, and maintain clear technical notes on active opportunities.
  • Feed recurring field requirements back to Product and Engineering, and deliver clean technical handoffs to Platform Engineering, implementation, and delivery teams after close.
  • Partner with the commercial team and Head of EMEA through qualification, proposal, and procurement, supporting negotiation on technical matters.
  • Translate customer accreditation and security requirements into realistic deployment schedules, working with Platform Engineering to resolve conflicts between engineering timelines and customer go-live dates.
  • Align engineering roadmap priorities with regional customer needs and accreditation windows, sequencing feature delivery accordingly.
  • Broker resolution of technical-feasibility and resource-allocation conflicts between Product/Platform Engineering and customer security officers so accreditation blockers are resolved before they delay deployment.
