About The Position

As a Software Engineer in Lam’s Global Products Group, you will design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software programs and tools supporting design, infrastructure, and technology platforms. The role contributes to hardware compatibility and design decisions, helping ensure seamless integration between software and hardware. You will work within a centralized software engineering team across Lam’s equipment product portfolio and collaborate with colleagues across the organization. The position focuses on quality engineering and test automation for desktop-based and equipment control software. You will develop and execute test strategies, maintain automated test suites, validate releases and product features, investigate customer-reported issues, and provide technical leadership in testing activities. You will also work with engineering, quality, systems, and customer support teams to resolve issues and improve quality through automation and process optimization.

Requirements

At least 6 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance, Test Automation, or Software Validation.
Strong understanding of Functional, Integration, Regression, System, GUI, and Performance Testing methodologies.
Experience developing automated test solutions for enterprise, desktop, or control software applications.
Proficiency in Java, Python, or similar programming or scripting languages.
Hands-on experience using GenAI tools such as GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT for testing and automation activities.
Ability to independently own testing activities.
Strong analytical, debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Understanding of computer architecture and operating systems.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
Willingness to work on desktop-based applications, equipment control software, and hardware-integrated software solutions.

Nice To Haves

Experience building Generative AI agents to support QA workflows and testing functions.
Knowledge of AI-assisted or vibe coding techniques for automated test generation.
Familiarity with automation frameworks and modern testing tools.
Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems.
Exposure to semiconductor equipment software, industrial automation, or hardware-integrated applications.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and execute test strategies for desktop-based and equipment control software applications.
Create and maintain automated test suites to improve release quality, test coverage, and execution efficiency.
Develop test cases, test data, test plans, and validation scenarios for product features and software releases.
Qualify software releases, patches, and enhancements before customer deployment.
Investigate, reproduce, analyze, and troubleshoot customer-reported software issues.
Perform log analysis, debugging, root-cause identification, and defect reporting.
Partner with engineering teams to support timely issue resolution and high-quality customer outcomes.
Provide technical leadership for software testing across product releases and development programs.
Recommend validation approaches based on product architecture and risk assessment.
Collaborate with software developers, quality engineers, systems teams, and customer support organizations globally.
Coordinate testing activities, track execution progress, and provide quality reports to stakeholders.
Improve quality through test automation, process optimization, and modern engineering practices.
