About The Position

NVIDIA is seeking a technical lead to develop a platform that enables engineers to assess the performance of AI workloads running across many computing nodes. The team develops software tools that help technical users understand complex computing systems. The role will lead the architecture of a system that collects performance data at data-center scale, maintains searchable historical data, and enables people and automated analysis agents to find and explain performance issues. The technical lead will evolve the platform from an early prototype into a product used by other teams, while contributing hands-on as the team expands. The work includes defining architecture and foundational decisions, aligning with partner teams, building initial services and deployment infrastructure, specifying how automated analysis agents operate, driving early use cases, reviewing diagnoses, mentoring engineers, and establishing engineering practices for the growing team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 15+ years of software engineering experience, including technical leadership of a data-intensive platform shipped end to end and used by other teams.
  • Experience developing or managing systems where automated agents or models process large amounts of production data, including methods to assess the quality of their results.
  • Practical knowledge of GPU and machine-learning workload performance, including the ability to review performance diagnoses, question their evidence, and determine which signals matter most.
  • Track record of creating APIs and data models that evolve without breaking existing users or deployments.
  • Hands-on ability to build and deploy services and tooling, including with automated development tools, and independently verify results through tests and measurements.
  • Clear communication of build choices, trade-offs, and uncertainty to engineers, partner teams, and leadership, and ability to align teams without direct authority.
  • Proficiency with C++, Go, and Python.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in developer tools, profilers, or performance-analysis products.
  • Experience transforming a prototype into a platform embraced by multiple teams with distinct priorities.
  • Experience with identity, access control, and multi-tenant design for products that hold customers’ data.
  • Evaluation approaches for analysis-agent or model output, such as labeled cases, precision and recall, and abstention.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and TypeScript.

Responsibilities

  • Define the end-to-end architecture, including the data model, service and API contracts, and boundaries with data-producing tools and teams.
  • Document foundational technical decisions, considered alternatives, and evidence that could prompt a change in those decisions.
  • Align architectural decisions with partner teams and their roadmaps.
  • Build early services, APIs, and a deployment path so partners can develop the system before all roles are filled.
  • Specify how automated analysis agents interact with the platform, including permitted queries, how results relate to evidence, and constraints on cost and response time.
  • Review performance diagnoses and drive initial use cases with design partners.
  • Mentor engineers and establish engineering approaches for the expanding team.
