Software Technical Lead Engineer
About The Position
As a Software Engineer in Lam Research’s Global Products Group, you will design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software programs and tools that support product design, infrastructure, and technology platforms. You will help determine hardware compatibility and influence design to ensure seamless software-hardware integration. You will work within a centralized software engineering team supporting Lam’s product portfolio, collaborating across engineering and customer support organizations. The role focuses on quality engineering and test automation for desktop-based and equipment control software, validating software releases, investigating customer-reported issues, and providing technical leadership across testing activities. You will also drive quality improvements through automation, process optimization, and modern engineering practices.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance, Test Automation, or Software Validation.
- Strong understanding of functional, integration, regression, system, GUI, and performance testing methodologies.
- Experience developing automated test solutions for enterprise, desktop, or control software applications.
- Proficiency in programming or scripting using Java, Python, or similar languages.
- Hands-on experience with GenAI tools such as GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT for testing and automation activities.
- Ability to independently own testing activities.
- Strong analytical, debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of computer architecture and operating systems.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
- Willingness to work on desktop-based applications, equipment control software, and hardware-integrated software solutions.
Nice To Haves
- Experience building Generative AI agents to support QA workflows and testing functions.
- Knowledge of AI-assisted or vibe coding techniques for automated test generation.
- Familiarity with automation frameworks and modern testing tools.
- Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems.
- Exposure to semiconductor equipment software, industrial automation, or hardware-integrated applications.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test strategies for desktop-based and equipment control software applications.
- Create and maintain automated test suites to improve release quality, coverage, and execution efficiency.
- Develop test cases, test data, test plans, and validation scenarios for new product features and software releases.
- Qualify new software releases, patches, and enhancements before deployment to customers.
- Investigate, reproduce, analyze, and troubleshoot customer-reported software issues.
- Perform log analysis, debugging, root-cause identification, and defect reporting.
- Partner with engineering teams to support timely issue resolution and high-quality customer outcomes.
- Provide technical leadership in software testing activities across product releases and development programs.
- Recommend validation approaches based on product architecture and risk assessment.
- Collaborate with software developers, quality engineers, systems teams, and customer support organizations globally.
- Coordinate testing activities, track execution progress, and deliver quality reports to stakeholders.
- Drive quality improvements through automation, process optimization, and modern engineering practices.
