About The Position

As a Software Engineering intern at Stryker, you will be placed in one of the following teams: Advanced Quality, Process Quality, Supplier Quality, Quality, Research & Development (New Product Development, Product Engineering, Test Lab), or Manufacturing. You will apply classroom knowledge and gain experience in a fast-paced and growing industry setting, implement new ideas, be constantly challenged, and develop your skills. You will network with key/high-level stakeholders and leaders of the business, be a part of an innovative team and culture, and experience documenting complex processes and presenting them in a clear format.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field; must remain enrolled in a degree-seeking program after the internship.
  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA or above (verified at time of hire)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and not require employment-based sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to collaborate and build relationships
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and eagerness to learn in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work on engineering projects related to development of new products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product sustainment.
  • Perform robust root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions for non-conforming issues in production.
  • Work closely with suppliers to ensure components and their manufacturing processes meet required standards.
  • Ensure development and sustainment of products with the highest quality.
  • Evaluate risk, ensure customer user needs are met, and help drive craftsmanship, safety, durability, and reliability into the product.
  • Handle complaints and implement design changes to address quality issues.
  • Identify the needs and goals of future products.
  • Research new technologies, customer expectations, business requirements, and regulations.
  • Develop new product concepts and drive them from concept to production.
  • Identify the greatest needs for improvements on current products.
  • Research new technologies, customer feedback, and product performance data to make products better.
  • Improve the safety and efficacy of existing products.
  • Experiment with early prototypes and vet out product designs throughout the design process.
  • Design and build fixtures to simulate real-life situations.
  • Perform design verification – the quantitative testing of the product's technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with Design and Operations to deliver best-in-class new products to market.
  • Improve Stryker’s manufacturing lines through new fixture development, assembly line process enhancement, implementation of lean manufacturing principles, and improving ergonomics and safety.
