Software Engineering Internship - Summer 2027

CTC CampusChicago, IL

About The Position

As a Software Engineering (SE) Intern at Chicago Trading Company (CTC), you will be challenged to learn and adapt in a dynamic, forward-thinking, and fast-paced environment, experiencing life as an engineer on one of our technology teams. Your impact will be immediate and meaningful as you work alongside software engineers designing, solving, and testing complex coding problems to deliver solutions for our trading tools and risk applications. You will build the tools traders and quants rely on to price, trade, and manage risk in real time. With release cycles measured in days, you will see your code reach production and affect the desk almost immediately. This role requires a solid foundation in computer science, software development practice, and strong communication and teamwork skills. You will gain exposure to the design and implementation of these systems, allowing you to build upon your technical skills. As part of the Summer Associate cohort, you will learn and socialize alongside other SE Interns and Quant Trading (QT) Interns. You may gain practical experience with languages such as Java, C++, and Python. Software development cycles at CTC are short, and releases of proprietary software are frequent, creating a fast-paced and dynamic team environment where engineers quickly see the results of their effort and its impact on the business. Additionally, engineers use AI coding assistants and agentic tooling in their daily workflow, and CTC is actively building AI into its trading, research, and engineering systems. As an intern, you will work in this environment and be encouraged to use these tools to ship more and ship it faster.
