About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Software Engineer 3 to join its DevOps team in Hanover, Maryland. The team develops, deploys, and supports mission-focused cyber training solutions used across multiple locations. The role contributes throughout the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, software development, testing, deployment, infrastructure management, and operational support, in collaboration with instructors, developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders. The DevOps team supports a diverse portfolio of applications, services, and infrastructure rather than assigning engineers to a single product or technology stack. Software Engineer 3 personnel provide technical leadership and institutional knowledge to guide implementation decisions, mentor other engineers, and improve applications and the operational environment. They are expected to lead development efforts, guide technical decisions, and remain active contributors across the lifecycle. The team works in an air-gapped SCIF at a contractor site. Supported courses operate Monday through Friday from 0700 to 1800, with contract core hours from 1000 to 1400. The team maintains flexible schedules, although occasional support outside normal hours may be needed for testing, maintenance, and operational activities. A TS/SCI with Poly clearance is required.

  • System integration, networking, and application configuration.
  • Experience contributing to software development, DevOps, or application support activities, with interest in expanding knowledge across the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze complex mission requirements and assess the impact of proposed changes across applications, services, deployment pipelines, and operational environments; recommend and implement solutions that balance mission needs, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
  • Review software designs, architecture, and code for maintainability, scalability, and adherence to engineering best practices.
  • Design, develop, deploy, and maintain user interfaces, backend services, APIs, databases, automation tools, and supporting infrastructure.
