About The Position

Torch Technologies is seeking a Software Engineer 3 to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Engineering Directorate’s Modeling & Simulation (M&S) mission. The role develops innovative applications, intelligent automations, dashboards, and collaboration tools to streamline engineering workflows, improve decision-making, and modernize mission-critical operations. The position works with technologies including Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Tableau, SharePoint, Jira, Confluence, and AI-assisted development tools. The engineer will own meaningful projects, collaborate with technical professionals and mission stakeholders, and deliver solutions that support customer and mission requirements.

Requirements

U.S. citizenship.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
At least 5 years of relevant experience in software engineering, application development, process automation, or related software development activities.
Active Secret security clearance.
Strong foundation in software engineering, application design, databases, algorithms, and coding best practices.
Hands-on experience developing applications, automations, dashboards, scripts, and integrated solutions.
Experience with Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, or similar tools.
Experience using AI tools such as GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT for coding, troubleshooting, and documentation.
Ability to design user-friendly interfaces and translate complex requirements into practical solutions.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and cross-functional teamwork.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, and willingness to learn new technologies.
Ability to independently manage assignments and deliver secure, reliable, high-quality solutions.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with technical teams, customers, and leadership.
Ability to analyze workflows, define technical requirements, and recommend efficiency improvements.

Nice To Haves

Experience developing applications and automated workflows using Microsoft Power Apps, Power Automate, and SharePoint Online.
Experience building custom solutions using HTML, JavaScript, APIs, scripting languages, or other software development frameworks.
Experience creating reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using Power BI or similar tools.
Experience applying AI-assisted development technologies to accelerate software delivery and improve code quality.
Experience with AI/ML frameworks, technologies, or APIs such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or OpenAI APIs.
Experience developing and documenting software requirements and technical specifications.

Responsibilities

Identify opportunities to replace manual processes with intelligent, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
Develop and maintain SharePoint environments, dashboards, forms, workflows, and collaboration solutions.
Configure SharePoint sites, lists, libraries, permissions, and content structures to be intuitive, secure, and aligned with user needs.
Develop integrations and automation capabilities that improve data accuracy, reduce duplication, and connect information across systems.
Enhance existing applications and workflows to improve performance, reliability, usability, and maintainability.
Partner with software engineers, systems engineers, analysts, product owners, and mission stakeholders to understand challenges and develop technical solutions.
Translate user requirements and operational needs into software capabilities and technical solutions.
Participate in Agile development activities, technical discussions, design reviews, and collaborative problem-solving sessions.
Present technical concepts, demonstrations, implementation progress, and recommendations to customers and leadership.
Develop technical documentation and support the improvement and sustainment of deployed solutions.
Apply software engineering best practices to deliver secure, reliable, and maintainable solutions that meet customer and mission requirements.
