Software Engineer (Web Platform)

Hinoki Security•San Francisco, CA
•$200,000 - $300,000

About The Position

Hinoki Security is hiring a Software Engineer to own its frontend end-to-end and build the product surfaces customers use every day. The work includes verification flows where analysts confirm AI agents’ work, investigative features that help security engineers confirm vulnerabilities on remote assets using AI agents, and reporting surfaces that turn investigations into reports. The role is suited to someone who treats frontend engineering as a specialty and is motivated to improve frontend performance, including React optimization and modern React Server Components work. Hinoki works in TypeScript and C++, but values engineering depth over experience with specific languages. No security background is required; the company will teach the domain.

Requirements

  • Three to six years of engineering experience.
  • Deep React expertise, including the ability to reason about React’s rendering model and hook internals and recognize problematic render traces in DevTools.
  • A clear point of view on performance measurement and the ability to describe a performance improvement project.
  • Product sense, demonstrated through shipped work with thoughtful details and user experience.
  • Daily use of an AI coding tool such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor, and the ability to explain where such tools help and where they do not.
  • High agency and the ability to execute without waiting for design tickets.
  • Judgment to favor small, reversible changes and avoid unnecessarily large refactors.

Nice To Haves

  • Close familiarity with React Server Components work or strong opinions on Suspense boundaries.
  • Experience with TypeScript or C++; the description says specific language experience is less important than engineering depth.

Responsibilities

  • Own the frontend end-to-end.
  • Build and maintain verification flows for analysts to confirm agents’ work.
  • Develop investigative features that help security engineers confirm vulnerabilities on remote assets using AI agents.
  • Build reporting surfaces that turn investigations into reports.
  • Improve frontend performance, including React performance.
  • Read plans and deliver work independently; address broken areas regardless of code ownership.
