Software Engineer - Battery & High Voltage

General Motors•Milford, MI
•Hybrid

About The Position

As a Software Engineer at General Motors, you will be part of the Vehicle Mechatronic Embedded Controls (VMEC) team in the Battery and High Voltage (BHV) Agile Release Train. You will develop and deliver embedded control software for high-voltage battery management, communications, sensing, and processing across GM’s electric-vehicle portfolio. The work supports GM’s vision of zero crashes, zero emissions, and zero congestion. The role focuses on high-quality, hardware-agnostic software for wired Battery Management Systems, designed to meet system, physics, controls, safety, regulatory, and internal requirements. You will contribute to software architecture and design, diagnostics, controller communications, implementation, testing, documentation, and traceability. You will work with cross-functional teams and contribute technical leadership within Scrum teams, while applying Software Defined Vehicle, Service-Oriented Architecture, and CI/CD practices. The position also includes developing AI-driven diagnostics and predictive analytics for fault detection, prognostics, and anomaly detection. This is a hybrid role. The successful candidate is expected to report to Milford, Michigan, at least three times per week or as dictated by the business. Relocation benefits are available for candidates who qualify under company policy.
