About The Position

Fermilab is seeking a High Voltage Engineer to join the Infrastructure Services Directorate. The engineer plans and performs engineering tasks, including research, design, and development for medium-to-large engineering projects or portions of larger projects. Work must comply with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, requirements, standards, and DOE orders. Assignments may include equipment design and development, materials testing, preparing specifications, and coordinating the manpower required to manufacture, install, and test projects. The role involves analyzing data and performing engineering calculations; developing designs and documentation for project components and complex engineering solutions; and planning medium-to-large projects from inception through completion and operation. The engineer estimates manpower, schedules and coordinates work, provides technical direction, and takes a lead role in procurement, manufacturing, installation, testing, and operation. The position may also involve budget and cost estimates, review and approval of work and resource commitments, safety and review committees, technical conferences and publications, and team leadership or supervision. This is an onsite role at Fermilab’s Batavia location. The described work arrangement may change based on business needs and is not guaranteed to remain final. The expected hiring range is $99,500–$130,900; the actual offer depends on factors including responsibilities, qualifications, business considerations, internal equity, and comparable market pay. Employment offers are contingent on a background check and drug screening. New employees must obtain and maintain an HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification credential, which requires passing a federal background investigation. Fermilab also identifies restrictions concerning certain Foreign Government Sponsored or Affiliated Activities under DOE Order 486.1A.
