Work must comply with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, requirements, standards, and DOE orders. Assignments may include equipment design and development, material testing, specification preparation, and coordinating the manpower needed to manufacture, install, and test projects. The role develops engineering designs and documents, plans projects from inception through operational status, coordinates technical staff, and may take a lead role in procurement, manufacturing, installation, testing, and operation. The engineer may contribute to cost estimates and budget monitoring, review work and commit resources subject to oversight and approval, participate in safety and technical committees, and provide technical direction or supervision. All duties must be performed in accordance with applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations and practices. This is an onsite role at Fermilab’s Batavia location. Employment is contingent on successful background and drug screening. New employees must obtain and maintain an HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification credential, which requires successfully completing a federal background investigation. Certain employees and guest researchers or contractors must disclose participation in foreign government-sponsored or affiliated activities for review.
