About The Position

The Lazard AI and Data Group brings together data scientists, data engineers, AI engineers, and software engineers to develop advanced AI and data-driven solutions that enhance decision-making across Lazard’s Financial Advisory and Asset Management businesses. The team delivers practical insights and technology that support client engagements, strengthen strategic partnerships, and help the firm remain competitive and efficient in a rapidly evolving financial landscape. Operating as Lazard’s internal innovation engine, the group identifies opportunities to improve business processes through technology and develops solutions from end to end—from concept development and design through deployment, performance analysis, and continuous iteration. The Software Engineer Summer Intern at Lazard will work within the AI & Data Team. The primary responsibility is designing, building, testing, and maintaining large-scale data-intensive applications and data products. Team members at every level have meaningful agency throughout the product-development cycle, with direct interaction and rapid feedback loops from senior investment bankers in Financial Advisory and portfolio managers in Asset Management. We’re all-in on the cloud and are a leader in the adoption of new technologies. Successful candidates should have a strong programming background.

Requirements

Ability to start internship June 7, 2027 and end August 13, 2027
Ability to be in NYC for the duration of the internship
A Bachelor or advanced degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent.
Strong programming skills in Python. Experience with object-oriented programming.
Excellent object-oriented or functional analysis and design skills.
Strong knowledge and prior experience with the full software development lifecycle (requirements gathering, designing, building, testing and maintenance).
Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
Comfortable working with Git, CI/CD tools, and modern development workflows.
Manage containerized workloads and orchestration platforms.
Familiar with DevOps tools, automation frameworks, and engineering practices that enhance reliability and productivity.
Familiarity with data structures, storage systems, and cloud infrastructure such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
Familiar with large language model (LLM) frameworks.
A passion for building quality AI software in the Finance industry.
The ability to work both independently and as a team player.

Nice To Haves

Exposure to containerization and orchestration tools.
Interested in (and ideally some exposure to) agentic workflows, autonomous AI systems, and MCP (Model Context Protocol) agent development.
