About The Position

As a Software Engineer Intern at Lowe’s, you’ll collaborate with talented engineering teams to solve real-world technology challenges that directly impact our customers and associates. You'll work on scalable systems, develop intuitive user experiences, and contribute to building innovative solutions that power a Fortune 50 retail leader. From coding and testing to participating in agile development ceremonies, you’ll gain hands-on experience and grow your technical and professional skills in a fast-paced, supportive environment. This role has potential for conversion after graduation into a full-time, entry-level position as part of Lowe's Launchpad program for those that successfully complete their internship and required education. Lowe's Launchpad is a rotational opportunity designed to help emerging technologists strengthen their tech skills, engage with tech leaders, and learn more about Lowe’s culture while advancing their career. Successful completion of this program could result in final placement in just 14-months. Our 10-week summer internship program (May 24 – July 30, 2027) immerses you in real-world retail operations. You'll work directly with industry experts across our stores, distribution centers, and corporate offices, gaining practical experience through hands-on projects that make meaningful contributions to our business and communities.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field.
  • Expected graduation dates of December 2027 or May 2028.

Nice To Haves

  • 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher
  • Familiarity with one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript)
  • Exposure to software engineering projects through coursework or previous internships
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Passion for technology, innovation, and learning in a collaborative environment
  • Experience in a leadership position at work or within a campus organization

Responsibilities

  • Work within agile development teams to build and enhance software applications.
  • Develop and test clean, scalable, and reliable code in technologies such as Java, Python, React, or .NET.
  • Gain experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, GCP) and DevOps tools (e.g., GitHub, Jenkins).
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous integration/continuous delivery pipelines.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with UX, product, and data teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.
  • Learn software development lifecycle (SDLC) best practices in a large-scale enterprise environment.
