About The Position

Belvedere Trading is a leading proprietary trading firm headquartered in downtown Chicago. Our traders provide market liquidity through market-making activities across various commodities, interest rates, ETFs, and equity index options. Our Software Engineer Interns work directly with full-time Software Engineers and other interns to develop our low latency, high-performance, proprietary trading systems. They participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle, from design to testing to deployment. Interns should have a love of technology and a demonstrated interest in financial markets. We are looking for college juniors who fit this description. No prior finance or trading knowledge is required, as the Belvedere Trading University (BTU) program will provide necessary training upon joining.

Requirements

  • Experience developing efficient, user-friendly, extensible programs, preferably with an object-oriented programming language such as C++, C#, or Java.
  • Thrive in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Desire to continuously learn in a team environment, solve challenging problems and learn quickly.
  • Effectively communicate project updates to teammates and product managers.
  • Effectively use AI tools to improve efficiency and effectiveness while maintaining independent judgment and critical thinking.
  • Ability to live in Chicago and attend the internship fully in person during the summer of 2027.
  • Graduation date of December 2027/Spring 2028.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a collaborative team environment that encourages constant learning and innovation to build the future of technology and finance.
  • Participate in the in-house learning and development curriculum via peer-led lectures to gain knowledge about the fundamentals of trading and our proprietary trading systems.
  • Partner with team members to design, implement, and debug complex trading applications, ensuring software meets requirements and is testable.
  • Communicate with project managers and team leadership to develop work strategies.
