About The Position

Braze is hiring a Software Engineer II to join its User Targeting team, which builds and maintains the systems customers use to segment and target users. The team’s pipelines process billions of users per day and support a core part of the Braze product. This is a fast-paced, customer-focused engineering role involving a complex, high-scale segmentation system. The engineer will build and own features across a Ruby on Rails backend and React frontend, taking work from design review through production rollout. The role includes leading medium-sized projects, tuning data queries, improving performance and cost, and collaborating with product managers, designers, and other engineers. Team members write automated tests, review code, and participate in an on-call rotation. The team uses AI-assisted and agentic tools throughout product delivery to explore its Ruby monolith, develop proofs of concept, and move from requirements to working solutions.

  • Own medium-sized projects by breaking down work, setting delivery dates, and meeting them.

  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams to clarify requirements and deliver customer-focused features.
