About The Position

The Texas Institute for Electronics (TIE) is a University of Texas at Austin-supported semiconductor consortium focused on developing and executing a state-of-the-art 3D Heterogenous Integration manufacturing technology roadmap. With significant funding from the US DoD and the state of Texas, TIE is at the forefront of creating cutting-edge semiconductor manufacturing equipment and processes. This role will contribute to critical semiconductor domains, including advanced packaging, with the aim of reestablishing U.S. prominence in semiconductor manufacturing. The Software Engineer II/Software Engineer will support software and controls development efforts for semiconductor manufacturing equipment and processes, impacting future roadmaps for semiconductor logic, memory, heterogeneous integration, and chip cooling.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong software development skills in a variety of languages, including C, C++, Python, or some other combination of low-level and high-level languages.
  • Expertise with MATLAB, Simulink, or related control and simulation software.
  • Strong understanding of software structure, architectural design, and object-oriented programming, as well as build systems, revision control, and software lifecycle management.
  • Experience writing and working with software requirements and specifications.
  • Five years’ experience in software engineering or other relevant disciplines.
  • Goal-oriented and ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a research or start-up environment.
  • Prior experience in software development for hardware control and instrumentation.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts software development for novel semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
  • Assists in researching and procurement of various equipment sub-systems.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
