About The Position

The Software Engineer-Developer 5 assists in leading the architecture, design, development, and analysis of software systems. The role partners with stakeholders to translate software requirements and models into solutions that meet customer, operational, and performance requirements, and assists with system-level analyses to identify risks, issues, and opportunities. The engineer leads software teams in conducting code reviews and ensuring alignment with requirements and standards. The role oversees product and process reviews for alignment with project plans and industry standards, and researches and oversees implementation of current and emerging software technologies, tools, and frameworks. It applies foundational computer science knowledge, object-oriented design, and software patterns, along with experience in space or satellite ground mission capabilities, products, domains, and customers. The position supports hardware or software integration, emulation, and testing in a lab environment. It applies software development practices including test-driven development, agile software development, DevSecOps, and CI/CD management. This is a 12-month contract with potential for extension, based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on first shift. An active Top Secret clearance is required to start, and the candidate must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR.

Requirements

Active Top Secret Security Clearance required to start.
Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR.
10+ years of experience applying foundational computer science knowledge and object-oriented design and software patterns.
Experience with space or satellite ground mission capabilities, products, domain, and customers.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
Experience with one or more of Java, C++, Python, JavaScript frameworks such as React, jQuery UI, or Open Layers, Spring Framework, Hibernate, RDBMS, MongoDB, REST, and OpenAPI.
Experience with dependency management and automation services such as Ivy, Maven, Gradle, Git, or Jenkins.
Experience using cloud-based infrastructure such as AWS or Azure.
Experience as a Technical Lead Engineer, Software Lead, Software Architect, or Chief Engineer on a complex software development project or program.
Experience with large Database Management Systems requiring SQL for complex queries, stored procedures, triggers, and database design.
