About The Position

Our Technology teams at Expedia work in partnership with Product teams to create innovative products, services, and tools that deliver high-quality experiences for travelers, partners, and employees. A unified technology platform powered by data and machine learning enables secure, differentiated, and personalized experiences that drive traveler loyalty and satisfaction. Within Expedia Product & Technology, our Content organization is currently seeking a Software Developer II to work on our Content Platform capabilities. These capabilities enable Expedia Group to acquire, enrich, and distribute hundreds of millions of assets (images, text, attributes, videos, and more) used across all of our brands and lines of business. When you plan a trip on Expedia Group websites or mobile applications, most of the content you encounter has been selected and delivered by our systems to optimize your experience. Our team is dedicated to delivering highly scalable software solutions in an agile development environment using modern technologies. Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent professional experience, with at least 2 years of relevant professional experience.
Proficiency in at least one programming language (preferably Kotlin or Java) and experience working with technologies such as Spring Boot, gRPC/REST/GraphQL APIs, cloud platforms (preferably AWS), and databases including NoSQL, relational database engines, and caching technologies such as Redis, Valkey, or MemcacheD.
Experience working on moderately complex systems and products, including designing, implementing, and operating service-level ownership for a service or small set of related services, including low-level design, API design, and data modeling.
Experience with application testing, monitoring, and debugging, including building dashboards using technologies and solutions such as JUnit, Cucumber, Gatling, Splunk, and Datadog.
French and English bilingualism is considered an asset.

Nice To Haves

Experience designing and evolving multi-service backend architectures for content or catalog platforms, including well-defined API boundaries and service-to-service data contracts.
Demonstrated track record of improving reliability, performance, and operational excellence at scale through observability, automated testing, deployment automation, and production incident management.
Experience working with large-scale content-, catalog-, or data-centric systems, including complex data models, search or indexing processes, and integration with multiple upstream and downstream systems.
Experience safely integrating and operating AI/ML-enabled solutions that improve content quality, relevance, or operational efficiency, including partnering with machine learning or data teams on model-driven capabilities.
Hands-on experience applying AI, machine learning, or intelligent automation within backend workflows (for example content classification, quality validation, or personalization services), including the use of modern GenAI-powered or machine learning assisted tools to accelerate development and improve content-related outcomes.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain backend services that power Expedia Group's content and product catalog, focusing on robust APIs, clear low-level designs, and scalable data models.
Collaborate with Product, Content, and Partner teams to translate business and content requirements into resilient, observable, testable, and operationally efficient backend solutions.
Contribute to system design and code quality through design documents, API contracts, data modeling, code reviews, and adherence to software development best practices for reliability, security, and performance.
Build and enhance integrations between content services and upstream/downstream systems, ensuring accurate, timely, and consistent content propagation across multiple domains and surfaces.
Safely integrate and operate AI and machine learning enabled solutions that improve content quality, automation, and delivery, including familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real-world products.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and continuously improve backend services in production, using metrics and logs to optimize performance, cost, and reliability across services within your domain.
