About The Position

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is seeking summer interns to join its Engineering department in Wichita, Kansas, for the 2027 Summer Internship Program. Interns will support aircraft structural design engineering activities, which may include design, static analysis, and fatigue and damage tolerance analysis. Work may involve developing design data sets, including 3D models, 2D drawings, bills of material, and change notes; supporting aircraft modifications or repairs; and conducting analyses of metallic or composite aircraft components. Interns will perform design engineering work supporting aircraft production or in-service aircraft. Assignments may include detail-part modeling and sizing, layout maturation, trade-study analysis, weight-reduction work, certification activities, and in-service support. The role calls for basic knowledge of classical and finite-element stress analysis methods and design principles, the ability to address routine technical problems of limited scope, and effective communication of work status, issues, ideas, and solutions to supervisors. Interns will learn and apply engineering tool sets. The position is full-time and onsite unless otherwise approved by management and Human Resources. The internship is based at Airbus’s engineering facility on the Wichita State University innovation campus, where more than 200 staff and engineers support aerostructure design and analysis of primary aircraft structures, including wings and fuselages. Candidates must attend the SWE 2026 Conference in Boston and be willing to relocate to Wichita for the internship, scheduled May 17 through August 6, 2027.

Requirements
