About The Position

The Social Skills Assistant (SSA) is the first point of contact for families at KEBM, responsible for setting up the environment, running open play sessions, and greeting children. This role is designed as the first step in a 14-step clinical career path within the company, emphasizing that entry-level positions are valued and offer significant growth potential. KEBM is an ABA therapy company founded in 2016, operating five clinics across Southern California and Georgia. They utilize a proprietary S.O.C.I.A.L. P.O.D.S. methodology, which is a group ABA therapy model focused on social skills, behavior intervention, and individualized goals within a structured group dynamic. Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred.
  • No prior certification required.
  • Naturally good with children: patient, playful, and calm during escalations.
  • Desire for a career in ABA, viewing the SSA role as a launching pad.
  • Belief that every client deserves the same quality of care.
  • Ability to be physically active: standing, walking, sitting on the floor, transitioning between activities, and responding to challenging behaviors.
  • Crisis readiness: ability to respond appropriately to behaviors including elopement, aggression, and self-injury, with training and supervisory backup.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with children (e.g., camp counselor, preschool, tutoring, youth programs).
  • Psychology, education, or behavioral science coursework in progress.
  • Bilingual (Spanish).
  • Direct experience with neurodiverse individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Support pod facilitators during group sessions by preparing materials, managing transitions, delivering reinforcement, and helping maintain group dynamics.
  • Run open play and camp programming, including spring break, winter break, summer, and other seasonal KEBM camps, delivering social skills work in a playful format.
  • Build rapport with all clients, regardless of their funding source or program type (insurance-funded, private pay, open play, or camp).
  • Maintain the clinic environment by setting up sensory rooms, preparing materials, tracking supplies, and ensuring cleanup.
  • Collect baseline observations and data under supervisor direction, contributing insights from open play and group sessions.
  • Learn the field on the job by shadowing RBTs, Lead RBTs, and Program Supervisors, with a clear path towards RBT certification support.
